EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit

The EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit allows family members of EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens to join their family members in the UK.

• You can apply if you are a family member of someone from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein who started living in the UK by 31 December 2020.
• Eligible family members include spouses, civil partners, unmarried partners, dependent children or grandchildren, and dependent parents or grandparents.

• Apply Online: You must apply from outside the UK.
• Documents Required: Proof of identity, relationship to the family member in the UK, and evidence that your family member is living in the UK.
• Decision Time: Typically, it takes up to 6 months to get a decision.

There is no fee to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit.

The family permit is valid for up to 6 months.

• You can work and study in the UK with this permit.
• You can enter and leave the UK as many times as you need within the permit’s validity.

Once in the UK, you can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to stay longer.

The latest updates include the closure of certain routes, such as the Surinder Singh route and the Zambrano route, to new applications.
